Lifestyle: We Bought Our Dream Home!

Our journey to purchasing the perfect house for our family

I can't even believe I'm writing this post. We are finally in our #dreamhouse and it has been a PROCESS to get here! We owned two houses prior to buying this beauty. The first one we owned was the perfect starter home for our new family. We'd only been married for 8 months when Derek convinced me to take the journey to homeownership. The house had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and it was perfect. Our oldest son, Dion spent 4 amazing years growing up and creating sweet memories so it was bitter sweet when we decided to purchase the next house. Donavan, our 2nd son, was only a few months old but we quickly realized it was getting too small to hold our growing family. After a few months, we found a house in the neighborhood I always dreamed of living in. The house was 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a large backyard and down the street from the elementary school! It was an older house that needed a touch of magic so we rolled up our sleeves and renovated the house. Well, Derek was never in love with the house and along came Daniel, our youngest son. After a few years, Derek and I begin talking about purchasing our dream home.

Choosing the perfect builder for our house

Typically finding the right builder is one of the hardest decisions to make when you decide to build a house but not for us. When Derek and I were dating, we would look at our "dream homes". We would spend hours online searching for the perfect layout, the perfect style and we both decided that one day, we would build a Toll Brothers house. Well, it just so happen that a brand new Toll Brothers section was opening up in our neighborhood. It..was..perfect! They rolled out a new product that had a modern style but in the suburbs which is difficult to find. Now, I'm not going to lie, it took some serious convincing on Derek's part because I wasn't ready to make such a huge commitment. However, after many long talks we decided to pick a lot and start the process. We spent a lot of time perfecting the layout, talking through upgrades, and electrical plans. I honestly never spent this much time on the consumer end of buying a home but our sales representative, Pam and the Toll Brothers family took great care of us. Although we had a few bumps in the road, we made it to the finish line. I plan on sharing a preview of the house, remodeling projects, and of course decorating tips and ideas. I'm so happy to share this journey with you all. Thanks for reading our home buying story.

Much Love ---- Amanda W.
